In the first half of 2016, the China Cotton Association Cotton Farmers' Branch conducted a survey on cotton picking, sales, and price conditions in 263 counties and more than 2,000 designated farmers in 12 provinces and cities in the interior. The survey results show that in early October, most of the weather conditions in the cotton region of the Yellow River Basin are suitable for cracking and bolling of cotton; in some areas of the Yangtze River, there is more rain, which is not conducive to cotton bolling and picking, and the progress of picking and selling is slow. As of October 15, the progress of cotton picking in the Mainland was 70.28%, a year-on-year decrease of 8.12 percentage points; the progress of the sale was 15.34%, a year-on-year slowdown of 6.71 percentage points; the average price of cotton farmers selling cotton was 3.32 yuan/kg, a year-on-year increase. 11.4%, up 0.12 yuan/kg from the previous month.

The Yangtze River valley, Jiangsu and Anhui provinces have more rain, which is not conducive to cotton bolling and picking. Due to the adverse conditions in the previous period, the harvest progress is slower than the same period of last year. As of October 15, the picking progress of the river basin was 59.33%, down 5.7 percentage points year-on-year; the sale progress was 16.42%, down 6.7 percentage points year-on-year; the average price of cotton farmers selling cotton was 3.32 yuan/kg, up from the same period last year. 15.68%, up 0.12 yuan/kg from the previous month.

In the Yellow River Basin, the weather conditions are suitable for cotton tossing and picking, but the cotton market is not active and fewer companies are acquired. As of October 15th, the picking progress of the river basin was 80.98%, down 8 percentage points year-on-year; the sales progress was 14.29%, down 2.2 percentage points year-on-year; the average price of cotton farmers selling cotton was 3.57 yuan/kg, up from the same period last year. 15.91%, the same as last month.
