Huo Jidong is a member of the China Root Art Association, a member of the Municipal Writers Association, and a member of the Calligraphers Association. More than a decade ago, Huo Jidong was inspired by antique bronze sculptures at the Beijing Liulichang. From the root carving art creation to the bronze sculpture art creation, he spent almost every time on the bronze sculpture creation. The bronze sculptures that won the "Best of the Great World" are the most hand-carved copper overprints with a height of 11.5 cm and a footprint of 4 x 4 cm. The set of prints consists of 12 pieces, and the buttons are engraved with the zodiac signs. Using embossing, round carving, line engraving, inlaying and other processes, the sub- and mother-prints have a total of 125 imprints. In order to complete this set of works, Huo Jidong spent ten years of hard work.
The small balcony in Huo Jidong's home is full of various tools and hand-carving equipment and bronze sculptures, which embodies his own artistic dreams and becomes a big stage for his artistic creation. Under his painstaking research, a piece of lifeless copper was carefully crafted into a living art. Huo Jidong told reporters that when the opportunity is ripe, he hopes to hold a bronze sculpture exhibition in the city, so that more people can understand and appreciate the exquisite charm of bronze sculpture art.
