In the recently concluded financial year of 2010-11, Pakistan’s textile exports increased by 35.06% to US$13.805 billion.

According to figures released by the Ministry of Statistics on the 19th, during the July-June period of fiscal year 2010-11, Pakistan exported textile products worth 13.805 billion U.S. dollars, and exports during the same period of fiscal year 2009-10 were US$ 10.221 billion.

Textile export growth in the past fiscal year was due to the increase in demand for low value-added products and the increase in cotton prices in the international market. Exports of textiles helped the country implement export earnings of $24.827 billion.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Statistics, the product sub-category indicates that in the fiscal year 2010-11, the export of raw cotton increased by 83.95% year-on-year, the export of cotton yarn increased by 52.50% year-on-year, the export of cotton cloth increased by 42.30% year-on-year, and the export of carding saw year-on-year Increase of 50.01%, yarn exports increased by 48.56% year-on-year, knitwear exports rose by 30.93% year-on-year, bedding exports rose 19.56% year-on-year, towel exports rose by 14.45% year-on-year, and garment exports rose year-on-year. 39.73%, exports of embroidered yarns and synthetic textiles increased by 50.42% year-on-year, exports of manufactured goods items increased by 16.64% year-on-year, and exports of other textile materials increased by 36.37%.

However, only the export of tents, canvases and tarpaulins showed an increase of 20.74%.
