Thank you all so much for your incredible excitement about the new Oliver + S patterns! I’m absolutely thrilled to hear how much you love them, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing creations you bring to life with these designs. Earlier today, Rachel did an awesome round-up of the Butterfly pattern, showcasing several unique versions of the blouse and skirt. It’s clear that many of you are already diving into fabric selection and sewing your own interpretations, and I’m beyond excited to see the final results!
For those of you who enjoy a good sew-along, I wanted to share an idea we’ve been considering. Whether it’s the sense of community or the helpful photos that guide you step-by-step, sew-alongs always seem to bring extra joy to the sewing process. So, we thought it might be wonderful to host some sew-alongs for the new patterns. Instead of placing them directly on the blog, we’ve decided to host them on our discussion forum this time around. That way, they’ll remain easily accessible as a long-term resource, making it simpler for everyone to revisit them whenever needed. Plus, with so many other exciting projects in store for the blog, we’ll keep you entertained in multiple spaces!
Thinking about it further, here’s a preliminary schedule for the upcoming sew-alongs:

- **Parachute Sweatpants**: May 4-8 (just next week!) – I’ll guide you through adding pockets to the sweatpants, which is a fantastic skill that you can also apply to the Butterfly Skirt. Trust me, once you learn this easy tutorial, you’ll never look at pockets the same way again!
- **Butterfly Blouse**: May 18-22 – This top is incredibly versatile and offers endless opportunities for customization. From embroidery to color-blocking, we’re going to have a blast exploring all the possibilities together.
- **Parachute Polo**: June 1-5 – If the placket or collar has you feeling a bit nervous, don’t worry! We’ll walk you through every step, making it as straightforward as possible.
- **Butterfly Skirt**: June 15-19 – As the simplest pattern in the collection, this skirt is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to experiment. You can use the pocket technique from the Parachute Sweatpants tutorial or try some creative alternatives!
This schedule gives us a week between each sew-along, allowing enough time for everyone to catch up if needed. Are you ready to dive in? I can’t wait to see what you create!

On another note, I recently came across a fantastic article discussing sustainable fashion practices. It reminded me just how important it is to think about the environmental impact of our sewing habits. Whether you're using leftover fabrics or supporting ethical brands, every little step counts. Let’s make sewing not only fun but also meaningful!
If you have any questions or need help along the way, feel free to reach out on the forum. We’re here to support each other and celebrate the joy of sewing together. Until then, happy crafting!
